EN 16001:2009 has been published and has been available from 7th July 2009.
Before issuing certificates to the new standard all conformity assessment bodies (CABs) need to be in a position to demonstrate that they have taken all necessary steps in order to manage the implementation process.
INAB will verify if CABs have carried out the following processes:
INAB will evaluate the effectiveness of these processes:
(a) during the first normal surveillance visit or in the course of other planned visits to CAB premises if this happens before the surveillance visitor(b) a review of documents submitted to INAB by CABs
It is the responsibility of the CAB to decide whether it chooses to make the transition to EN 16001:2009 by means of the document review and have this identified on its scope of accreditation following this process, or wait for the INAB routine surveillance audit following which the scope may be amended.
One year after publication of EN 16001:2009 all accredited certificates issued (new certifications or re-certifications) shall be to EN 16001:2009.
If the CAB chooses to proceed by document review, it shall forward the following to INAB:
1. A review detailing the differences between I.S. 393:2005 and EN 16001:2009
2. The updated list of qualified auditors and decision makers
3. Records regarding their training for EN 16001:2009
4. Copy of the communication sent to the client organisation concerning the transition
5. Basic modified documentation, if any (e.g. check lists, procedures…….etc.)
INAB will re-issue the scope of accreditation following a successful review of documentation or visit. References to I.S. 393:2005 will be removed from scopes after the expiry of two years from the publication of EN 16001:2009.
