On the 19th June, the Bon Secours Hospital (Cork), Reg No (153MT) became the first hospital blood bank to be assessed and approved for its competence to comply with the traceability and haemovigilance requirements (articles 14 & 15) of the EU Blood Directive 2002/98/EC Quality and safety of Human Blood and Blood Components.
The Bon Secours Blood Bank has been accredited to ISO 15189 for its testing activities since September 2004.
