INAB is delighted to announce that it has successfully extended its EA Multilateral Agreement (MLA) to include the certification of persons.
On 8th July 2021, following peer evaluation from 12th to 14th January, the EA multilateral agreement council (EA MAC) confirmed INAB as a signatory to the EA MLA in the field of certification of persons (EN ISO/IEC 17024). It involved a rigorous evaluation of INAB’s assessment and competence management processes, as well as witnessing INAB’s remote assessment of Hartford Steam Boiler Ireland Ltd., one of five INAB accredited personnel certification bodies (CBs). INAB would like to thank HSB for its cooperation, helping to ensure INAB’s success in its application for this extension.
Up to this point, INAB has not previously been a signatory to the EA MLA in this field because it has not had any ISO/IEC 17024 clients for over 10 years.
The prime motivator for this extension was because all five personnel CBs require accreditation for the purpose of notification; the various CE marking directives and regulations state that accreditation is the preferred means of demonstrating the technical competence of notified bodies.
ISO/IEC 17024:2012 contains principles and requirements for a body certifying persons against specific requirements and includes the development and maintenance of a certification scheme for persons.
Personnel certification confirms the competence of named individuals to perform specified services or duties. This is achieved through the issuing of a certificate of competence.
